Was ist Öko-Luxus? Luxus bedeutet in einer von Stress und Schnelligkeit geprägten Gesellschaft, vor allem: Zeit zu haben. Zeit um schöne Dinge zu kreieren, aber auch Zeit um sie zu geniessen. Luxus bedeutet auch, aussergewöhnlich gute Qualität zu erfahren.

Wenn feine und ökologische Stoffe zu hochwertigen Kleidungsstücken verarbeitet werden, welche für lange Zeit getragen werden, wird die Kleidung nachhaltig. Wenn ein Kleidungsstück langlebig ist und die Rohstoffe nach ökologischen Richtlinien angebaut werden, wird es umweltfreundlich.

Öko-Luxus ist also das Ergebnis von Qualitätsbewußtsein, einem nachhaltigem Designkonzept und dem Einsatz von nach- wachsenden und ökologischen Materialien.

Der besondere Umgang mit Oberflächen und Details zeichnen ihre Kollektionen aus und prägen ihren Stil: zeitlos, klassisch, maßvoll extravagant. Stücke, die man gerne längere Zeit trägt, weil sie schön aussehen, sich wunderbar anfühlen und lange halten.

next vision: bright green fashion

Magdalena Schaffrin is one of the ten young and talented designers, who presented their vision of sustainability in fashion design in Copenhagen. `next vision: bright green fashion` is a collaborative projekt organised by the Creative Forum Copenhagen and the Berlin-based designers networkCREATE Berlin. The purpose of the projekt is to build an international creative network, to share knowledge in the field of fashion design and to access new potential markets.

The overall aim of all participating designers is to engage in next generation design thinking and to encourage a greater awareness of new ways in approaching sustainability in the fashion industry.

The next vision: bright green fashion main event took place within the Copenhagen Design Week in August 2009. The pictures are taken on the catwalk show in the historical Ràdhuset, which was opened by the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Ms. Ritt Bjerregard and the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Mr. Klaus Wowereit. All designers participate as well at Show How Exhibition of the Design Week.

The projekt got underway with workshops, lectures and round table discussions on sustainable fashion in May in Berlin. The overall question of the workshop was: What is sustainable fashion? And what criteria are we setting up for our collections? After three days of intense discussions all ten designerrs agreed on following points for their green garments:

1.Fabrics: All participants have to use only natural fibres (e.g. organic cotton) and/or recycled materials. 2.Treatment: No chlorine bleach, no heavy metal content on dyestuff, mechanical treatment only (allowing softener and enzymes, not allowing chemicals. 3.Production: Materials and comsumables have to be produced locally or, if purchased from Asia or other distanced countries, produced and traded fairly hence signed with a `Fair Trade`label.
